Tottenham Hotspur’s talented young left-back Danny Rose is destined to leave White Hart Lane this summer after his disillusionment with being unable to break into the first team resulted in a misjudged tweet that publicly aired his frustration.

The tweet in question – ‘Decent to see new young faces drafted into the England squad !! Looking forward to going somewhere next season and PLAYING some games !!!’ – was in direct response to the surprise call-up of Martin Kelly to the England set-up and was soon after taken down after some angry criticism from Spurs fans.

Rose’s candid outburst brings into sharp focus what many have believed for some time – that the 21 year old is becoming exasperated with his lack of first team opportunities at the club, a situation which will only worsen with the imminent arrival of Belgian international Jan Vertonghen who is equally adept at playing on the left as he is centrally.

With Benoit Assou-Ekotto going nowhere and firmly established in the side the England Under-21 is left with few options save for engineering a move away from the club he joined in 2007 as a precocious teen from Leeds.

A number of Championship outfits have previously shown serious intent in capturing Rose on a lengthy loan deal – Birmingham and Portsmouth chief amongst them – but the former winger is considered far too good to drop down a level on a permanent basis and the Cutter understands that his most likely destination lies at Stoke’s Brittania Stadium.

Tony Pulis is resolved to beef up a squad that endured a disappointing latter half to the season which revealed its limitations. While their Europa Cup exploits can be justifiably blamed for the way the Potters fell away so dramatically Pulis believes that an influx of fresh faces is required for a top half finish next term with a handful of departures expected also.

Stoke are known to favour conducting their transfer activity well before the season begins so should they make a swoop for Rose expect it to occur sooner rather than later and with both clubs having built up a good relationship following the Crouch and Palacios deals the switch shouldn’t encounter any significant problems once a fee is agreed upon.
