Premier League Picks 18th October

The world’s most exciting league resumes this weekend and we should be in for some cracking encounters following an entertaining international break.

Fourteen clubs are in action this Saturday and each will be desperate to pick up points as the games begin to come thick and fast leading into the festive season.

Here’s what to expect from Saturday’s schedule:

Manchester City V Tottenham. 12:45PM.

The weekend’s action begins with a mouth-watering clash at the Etihad as the champions host Tottenham.

Manchester City haven’t sparkled at home this season and this could be the game that sparks their season into life. They brushed Spurs aside with a devastating 6-0 victory last term and they are more than capable of overwhelming their opponents once more.

Manchester City -2 Asian handicap @ 11/5 with Bet365

Arsenal V Hull City. 3PM.

A run of one win from six league games means Arsenal really need a win this weekend and they should have more than enough quality to tame the Tigers.

The Gunners might have drawn their last two at the Emirates but Manchester City and Spurs are much stronger opposition than Hull and Arsene Wenger’s men will be extremely confident.

Hull have lost nine of their last 12 Premier League trips to London. Their only victory in that spell came against QPR, who are nowhere near the level of Arsenal, and we expect Steve Bruce’s men to struggle once more.

Burnley V West Ham. 3PM.

Sean Dyche’s side finally ended their extended goal drought at Leicester but two goals wasn’t enough to see them pick up a first win of the season. However, that attacking approach certainly paid dividends and we could see more of the same against West Ham.

In order for that to happen, though, the Clarets may have to sacrifice some of their defensive stability. If that does happen, Sam Allardyce’s improving Hammers could take advantage.

West Ham United Win @ 7/4 with BetVictor

Crystal Palace V Chelsea. 3PM.

Selhurst Park will be captivated for this London derby as Palace face Chelsea. The Eagles have been flying high since Neil Warnock returned but they could come crashing back to earth against the Premier League pacesetters.

The Blues have dropped just two points from a possible 21 and are looking brilliant so far. If the likes of Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa can hit top gear it could be a very one-sided affiar.

Chelsea to win both halves @ 12/5 with Paddy Power

Everton V Aston Villa. 3PM.

Aston Villa might enter this weekend’s clash sitting above Everton in the table but they could come stuck against the Toffees.

The Villains started the season superbly but have lost their last three games without scoring. Conversely, Everton have struggled to cope with the demands of Europa League football but that won’t hinder them here following the international break.

Roberto Martinez’s men should secure a first home league win of the season.

HT/FT: Everton/Everton @ 29/20 with BetVictor

Newcastle United V Leicester City. 3PM.

Alan Pardew is still very much skating on thin ice at St James’ Park but he could earn himself a little extra time with three points against Nigel Pearson’s Foxes.

Leicester have impressed at the King Power but are struggling for form on the road, scoring just once. Meanwhile, Newcastle will be buoyant after their late comeback against Hull in their last home game – as well as their subsequent draw at Swansea.

Back the Geordies to sneak a first Premier League triumph.

Newcastle Win @ 5/4 with StanJames

Southampton V Sunderland

The Saints have enjoyed a fantastic start to life under Ronald Koeman but we think they could be in for a tough test against Gus Poyet’s Sunderland.

Apart from the four goals scored against Newcastle, Southampton haven’t actually scored that many goals and we can expect to see a defensive approach from a Black Cats side that has not lost in four. We think this is a tough one to call but goals could be at a premium.
