Chelsea are closely monitoring the situation of Ezequiel Lavezzi at PSG with the Argentine forward set to depart Ligue 1 next summer.

Lavezzi’s contract runs out in June and the 42-cap international recently told Telefoot “I think that this will be my last year with Paris Saint-Germain and I want to end it in the best way possible.”
His honesty sparked frenzied interest from several leading clubs not least the Italian duo of Inter and Juventus.
Yet after a disastrous start to their title defence Chelsea are determined to lead the charge and secure the services of a player they were heavily linked to back in May 2014.

Jose Mourinho is a long-term admirer of a striker who may have only netted 33 times in 139 appearances for the French giants but whose tenacious attacking talent is viewed as the perfect compliment to Diego Costa’s similarly bellicose traits.

The Cutter understands that a planned strategy meeting involving Mourinho and his staff was moved forward this week in light of their ‘crisis’. Topping the agenda was the imminent availability of Ezequiel Lavezzi.
