It takes a brave man to stand tall and declare that they know better than Pep Guardiola. Yet Claudio Bravo’s erratic settling in period at Manchester City has most of the nation shaking their heads in confusion at the decision taken earlier this season to jettison Joe Hart from his established number one spot.

The former Barcelona keeper suffered a nightmare return to the Nou Camp this week after he presented Suarez with an open goal, only to deny the former Liverpool striker’s goal bound shot with an attempted slam-dunk. Earlier this week, Guardiola also admitted that Barcelona keeper Andre Ter-Stegen was in fact his number one choice of goalkeeper in the summer, but had to settle for Claudio Bravo.

Combining Guardiola’s comments, Bravo’s performance in Spain and a tremendous performance for Joe Hart in England’s last run-out, bookmakers 888sport have slashed the odds from 20/1 to just 11/1 for the former England international to return to the Etihad in January.

It would require a volte-face from Pep that would have the tabloids and most of England chirping with ‘I told you sos’. It couldn’t happen. Could it?
