Manchester City legend Paul Dickov insists that Pep Guardiola will be relishing the challenge of an expected title charge this season especially as he‘s now had the chance to mould the squad in his own image.

Furthermore, speaking to betsafe.com ahead of a potentially thrilling clash with Liverpool this weekend the former striker is clearly excited about the additions made by the club this summer.

“Pep will enjoy the new pressure. Last season he didn’t bring in as many players as he would have wanted. He didn’t see it as his team and they had 11 players in the squad that were over 31. There is no way you can win the league with 11 players over 31. A lot of young players have been bought in, and the two biggest signings are the two full-backs. The way Pep wants to play Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy, going forward as wing-backs and even as full-backs they will be City’s best attacking players.“

As for this Saturday’s heavyweight bout Dickov is looking forward to the prospect of the away side’s fabulous attack coming up against a newly resilient City back-line.

“It’s a huge game for both teams. Liverpool got a fantastic result against Arsenal and are scoring a lot of goals. Man City have seven points out of a possible nine and look like they have a bit of resilience and strength in depth they didn’t have last season.”
