Former Manchester City flyer Shaun Wright Phillips believes their Argentine hit-man Sergio Aguero might just be the deadliest striker in the Premier League era.

Speaking exclusively for 888sport Wright Phillips – who very much remains a City idol among their loyal fan-base – also went on to say how much he’d relish playing in this present Blues side, especially under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola who has well and truly silenced his critics this term. But it was Aguero who he reserved the highest praise for, placing the currently injured star above Henry, Shearer and even his own dad in the all-time list of top flight finishers.

“There is definitely an argument that Sergio Aguero is the Premier League’s best ever striker.  If he stays fit all year that ups City’s chances of winning the Premier League and the Champions League. He’s a great finisher and he always fights hard for the team as well. I think Kun can score thirty goals easily this season. Especially in the form that he’s in now, that would be an easy mark for him.”

“I wouldn’t compare him to Alan Shearer because they are two different types of striker. For me it’s possible to play both up front because Kun plays very differently to Shearer.”
