With the closure of the transfer window at the edge, Manchester United are currently reported to be close in completing their fourth signing of the summer, with several reports in the media claiming it to be Chelsea wingman Willian. For this special we teamed up with John Johansson, editor for FootballPredictions.com, to get some more in dept information.

According to the report, the Red Devils are said to have reached some sort of financial agreement with Chelsea in a bid to land the Brazilian this summer.

It’s no news that, United manager Jose Mourinho has a soft spot for the Brazilian since he the left Chelsea back in 2015 and has been keen on landing the 30-year-old winger at the Old Trafford.

Mourinho have already added to his team three signings during this summer transfer window, the three being, Fred from Shaktar Donetsk, Diogo Dalot from Porto and Lee Grant from Stoke City for an undisclosed fee and could close to completing the fourth according to sources. According to the latest premier league predictions the Mancunians will have to sign more key players in order to play a role this season.

Tuttosport are currently reporting that the Red Devils have already agreed on a £67m fee with Chelsea to sign their star attacker right after Barcelona jumped out of the race, which leaves only United in the race to sign the attacker.

Willian, who still has two year left on his contract with the Blues, could cause quite a stir in the Manchester United squad should the transfer be finalised as Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial will be fighting for a place in the team.

The Brazilian had been very vital for Chelsea last season scoring 13 goals in all competitions – being the most he has ever managed in a single season.

However, Willian returned late to Chelsea training camp which emerged a few rumours with it as some reports claimed the Brazilian was unhappy with the club and wants to leave.

The 30-year-old confirm he will be remaining in London via ESPN: “Mourinho is the best manager I’ve ever worked with. We have a good relationship, we are friends,” Willian said.

“Sometimes we talk, we text, we send messages to each other via WhatsApp. He is a great manager, I really enjoyed working with him. I hope I can work with him again someday.”

“I don’t know if there was any official bid [from Manchester United], but some things have happened,” he said.

“Also, everything comes out on the internet, too. But Mourinho talks to my agent all the time, he says ‘bring him, bring him’.

“No, he has never called me, but he always sends me text messages.

“But I am very happy at Chelsea, I want to stay in the club. I also like living in London, it is an amazing city, and my family is well adapted. So yeah, I intend to stay at Chelsea.”

Looks like Maurizio Sarri won’t have to go over his head for scouting another alternative for Willian as he could just be staying put at Stamford Bridge.
