We ask the people who really matter – the fans – about their club’s prospects in the season ahead. Here Nigel Davey tells us about Puncheon’s bad attitude and how Ricky Lambert and co can hold their own in the Championship, with or without Alex Chamberlain.

1/ Following your promotion back to the Championship last term what are you hoping for this time out?

Play-offs would be a great return, but I’d be happy to see us hold our own in a difficult Championship.

2/ Are you happy with your current manager?

Yes. I’ve more confidence in Adkins than some of the previous clowns we’ve employed.

3/ What one change on the pitch would you like to see made from last season?

There’s no confidence in defence, so to concede fewer goals would be a start to a good season.

4/ Are you happy with the new arrivals?

Jack Cork is a previous loanee so it was good to see him sign permanently. Not seen De Ridder play yet but hopefully he will fit in to the team well.

5/ Who else would you realistically like to see your club try to sign before the window closes?

Don’t think they will sign any more. We’ve a big squad now, although I’d like to see Surman or Oakley come back to the club.

6/ Who would you like to be shown the exit door?

Hopefully Puncheon will go. Bad attitude around the club.

7/ It increasingly looks like Oxlade-Chamberlain will be on his way to Arsenal. How highly do you rate him and how does he compare to your other teen sensation Walcott?

Very talented player with a big future in the game. Unfortunately it won’t be with us. Similar in style to Walcott but he has more strength on the ball.

8/ From last year’s team which players will continue to thrive in the Championship?

Lallana, Fonte, Lambert, and the captain Kelvin Davies will be key to our season.

9/ Your club has always had some fantastic kits – the Hummel, the Patrick, the traditional stripes, and your current St Marys sash. Which is your particular favourite?

Loved last season’s home kit so I’ll have to go for that.

10/ Anything else you’d like to get off your chest about the Saints?

Just hope we start the Championship in the right way, from the players to the board -by not selling our best players – we are definitely moving in the right direction. Up the saints!!
