Mega-rich Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala are poised to swoop for disillusioned Chelsea flop Fernando Torres after learning that AC Milan also showed interest this week. Torres has netted just once since his £50m January switch from Anfield and is increasingly cutting a solitary trail at Chelsea having recently called several of his team-mates ‘slow’ in a Spanish interview. New gaffer Villas-Boas showed he was prepared to drop his out-of-form striker last weekend in favour of youngster Daniel Sturridge.
Considering the fortunes lavished upon Samuel Eto’o – a recent purchase for Anzhi – the Spaniard may be tempted to listen to the extravagent offer whilst Chelsea would no doubt be happy to recoup most of their outlay on a player who has miserably failed to ignite at the Bridge.
