A referee was so drunk at a Czech football match that he constantly fell over and sent off three players randomly for no reason.
Thomas Fidra was officiating a league clash between Jestrabi Lhota and Tynec-nad-Labem on his birthday when it soon became apparent that he had celebrated a little too much prior to kick-off.
The players could clearly smell alcohol on the ref and their suspicions were confirmed when he began to fall over at intermittent intervals. When some of the home team enquired if he was okay he promptly sent three of them off.
Tynec-nad-Labem sportingly agreed not to attack for the remainder of the game and capitalise upon their bizarre good fortune and the fixture was later awarded as a 1-1 draw by league authorities.
Police were called to the scene and breathalysed Fidra, whose blood alcohol content was 0.194 per cent – more than nine times over the Czech drink-driving limit of 0.02. He faces a 12-month ban from refereeing for his actions.
The above YouTube clip is not of Fidra but is hilarious nonetheless.
