Roy Keane is to be offered the Nottingham Forest post with an official announcement to be made after the forthcoming international fixtures.

There has been fervent speculation as to who will replace Steve McClaren in the City Ground hotseat, a process that has been complicated by the departure of chairman Nigel Doughty who left shortly after the sacking of the man he personally hired just four months ago. The club has reportedly recieved up to forty applications for the manager’s position but the Cutter understands that Keane – an ex Forest legend – is firm favourite should his and the club’s conditions be mutually agreed. It will not however be a popular choice on the terraces with some fans pointing out the Irishman’s dire recent record on the touchline.
