Anfield director of football Damien Comolli has identified Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski as a possible January target for a Liverpool side who are struggling to put away their numerous chances. The Reds are second in the league in terms of shots on target this term yet remain eighth for goals scored and are desperate to remedy the situation. The prolific Polish hit-man fits the bill having already netted 14 this term in the Bundesliga which follows on from a successful title-winning campaign last year. The imposing front man would be a perfect foil for the swashbuckling Suarez but would further freeze out a toiling Andy Carroll who has seemingly left his scoring boots back in Newcastle.

23-year old Lewandowski was a target for Blackburn in the summer of 2010 but has since gone on to establish himself as a top class finisher who is now interesting the supposed bigger clubs with Liverpool reportedly heading the queue.

Don’t expect him to come cheap but what price goals with a Champion’s League place at stake?
