A dismal showing in Europe by the English sides underlined the feeling that our league is simply no longer the world’s best. However, it cannot be denied that the Premier League still sits top of the pile when it comes to sheer entertainment and that’s exactly why we love it.

There’s six matches to look forward to this Saturday. Here are our bookie bashing tips:

Liverpool V Chelsea. 12:45PM

After all the stick that Brendan Rodgers has received during the fallout of Liverpool’s team selection in midweek, it would be no surprise to see the Reds put in a sterling performance against the league leaders.

However, we simply cannot see Jose Mourinho’s side leaving Anfield pointless. Back the draw.

Burnley V Hull City. 3PM

Instant relegation back to the Championship already seems inevitable for Sean Dyche’s Clarets but they won’t have thrown in the towel yet and could spark a resurgence by scoring a first win against Hull City.

Steve Bruce’s men should be an inspiration for the hosts after their heroics in 2013/14. However, the Clarets could tame the Tigers by registering a vital three points here.

Manchester United V Crystal Palace. 3PM

We’ve come to expect goals at Old Trafford this season and it should be no different on Saturday as Louis van Gaal’s side face Neil Warnock’s Eagles.

United’s defensive problems were exasperated by Chris Smalling’s red card in the derby but ,with Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao all eager to score, the Red Devils frontline could be Van Gaal’s get out of jail card once more.

Southampton V Leicester City. 3PM

The Saints have started the season at a blistering pace and can be confident about continuing their fine form as they welcome struggling Leicester to St Mary’s.

Nigel Pearson’s men have found it particularly tough on the road and, whilst they are due a result, they could be given the run around by Ronald Koeman’s side. We’re backing Graziano Pelle to continue his fine scoring form by netting the opener.

West Ham United V Aston Villa. 3PM

Sam Allardyce’s men have enjoyed a lease of new life this season and are flying high in fifth heading into this weekend’s clash. However, they don’t boast a particularly good record against Villa and the visitors could cause an upset at Upton Park.

Prior to Christian Benteke’s red card, the Villains looked good against Spurs last week. We’re backing Paul Lambert’s men to follow that up by picking up a first win in seven.

QPR V Manchester City. 5:30PM

City’s disastrous midweek result cannot detract from their Premier League ambitions and Manuel Pellegrini’s men must bounce back with three points at Loftus Road.

QPR are starting to show more promising sign, but are likely to come up short against the champions. The visitors need a star to drag them through this difficult encounter and that man Sergio is by far the most likely candidate.
