Manchester City have reportedly rejoined the chase for Barcelona’s flying right-back Dani Alves according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague in an exclusive interview for 888sport.com.

A protracted dispute with the Catalan giants has led many to believe the 32 year old Brazilian was bound for Old Trafford once his contract expired on June 30th with the player topping Louis van Gaal’s shortlist to fill a long-standing problem position.

Yet Balague insists that as recently as last week it remained a close three-horse race to secure the services of the five-time La Liga champion while today PSG coach Laurent Blanc has ruled out the French club out from continuing their pursuit.

That leaves just the two, both from Manchester, and both intent on strengthening their squads ahead of a fresh title challenge next term.

Who will ultimately win out?
