Tottenham Hotspur legend Teddy Sheringham has praised Harry Kane for taking the ‘sensible’ decision to remain at White Hart Lane this season despite growing interest from Manchester United.

The 51-cap England international himself moved from Spurs to United in 1997 and consequently went on to win three league titles and enjoy a famous Champion’s League triumph.
Yet in an exclusive interview with 888sport.com Sheringham insists Kane’s immediate future is best served in north London.

“He’s at where he’s at and that’s a very sensible decision to take at the moment. He should be honoured still to play for Tottenham – and the way he speaks he is. He’s loving every minute of it so he hasn’t got eyes for anyone else.”

The new Stevenage FC gaffer is also under no doubts that Kane will continue his meteoric rise after an astonishing introductory season.

“When you have the qualities Harry has I’d thoroughly expect him to do exactly what he did last year. I don’t think he’s a flash in the pan or a one-season wonder. I really think he’s the real deal and wants to learn and if it doesn’t come as easy for him as last year he’ll find a way to do it in other ways.”

With both clubs squaring up this Saturday in the Premier League’s opening fixture the man whose name was sung at both White Hart Lane and Old Trafford offers his thoughts on Kane, a lightweight Spurs backline along with revealing his tip for the title.
