In an exclusive interview for 888sport.com former Manchester United ace Lee Sharpe has joined the ever-growing list of Old Trafford legends who have become disillusioned with Louis Van Gaal’s possession first approach. More damning than any criticism that’s come before from Scholes, Keane et al he claims they are presently so dull he can’t even bear to watch them on television.
“I generally watch what I think will be entertaining games with two attack-minded passing teams. Obviously United used to come under that. There were always goals and chances. I now find myself flicking the telly over and doing something else for ten minutes.
“They’re near the top and he (Van Gaal) is not doing a bad job. It’s just a shame that the play is so dull and for me he’s not giving the players a lot of freedom.”
