The Premier League is only 11 games old, and some of the top teams are feeling the heat at the moment. Manchester City are currently the favorites for the title along with arch- rivals United and Tottenham. Liverpool is currently 5th in the Premier League, and Everton is just 2 points above the relegation zone, i.e. 15th after spending over $100 million. Let’s take a look at how the Merseyside have fared till now and how they can improve their fortunes.

Liverpool’s overall rundown:

Liverpool have had a very shakey start to the season. And seem to be lacking any kind of consistency. While they are able to score freely their defense has been called into question time and time again this season.

Despite the hardwork the team does behind the scenes, it still feels like the team is maximum dependent on the individual performances. Liverpool under Klopp have been a hard working team, closing down and running is part and pacrcel of the Klopp Gegenpressing philosophy but this season is a bit different, the team stands 11th position in terms of ground covered by players in the premier league.

Yet the hard work did make Liverpool win last 3 matches in a row against Huddersfield, Maribor and West Ham. The victory against West Ham was much more down to Mohamad Salah’s 2 goals who have recently gained a star position in the club.

Let’s see if Klopp can turn around the table with Southampton, Chelsea and Stoke to face in the coming season.  Liverpool struggles against teams in the lower table. Southampton and Stoke can give the Reds some hard time, but with Sadio Mane back in the team and Salah doing what he does best, Reds are the favoruties to win these matches according to the bookmakers like Betbright sports.

Everton’s position and upcoming challenges:

They currently stand at 15th position in the premier league after playing 11 games.

Ever after much fuss, Rooney has not been able to make a great impact, and the other new signings have been unimpressive so far.

They are certainly missing the absence of Romelu Lukaku, a goal scorer who was bearing the burden of finding the back of the net with not so creative cutting edge passes.

The condition of Everton got more miserable following the win of United with 4-0 against them. They have already sacked Ronald Koeman and are currently in the market for new manager. According to the bookmakers, Sam Allardyce is favourite for the manager post along with Sean Dyche who is doing wonder at Burnley.

But the dramatic win against Watford ended Everton’s horrendous run of 5 consecutive defeats. The victory against Watford at Goodison was Unsworth’s first win as a caretaker boss which made the huge fan base incredibly joyful.

Unsworth praised the team with his words, “You have to show desire and determination and never give up. You have to show that type of attitude. We didn’t give it, and we’ve climbed up the table tonight, and it looks better than it did before the game.”

Leighton Baines has an excellent performance in the match by securing the final goal with his spot-kick to claim victory against Watford. The sign of encouragement can surely be seen amongst team members and fans following these 2 victories.

The next  face Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Ham, these are teams that Everton should be looking to take points from. With the appointment of David Moyes the West Ham game will certainly be interesting!

Both Merseyside teams won their matches before the international break. They have time to regroup, and a good run after the international break can help them to improve their positions in the league. In this week, Manchester United, Arsenal have lost their matches, and there is a chance for Liverpool to come back into the title race and for the Toffees have to win some matches to get out of relegation battle.
