A section of West Brom fans have torn Jake Livermore to shreds for his performance in the 3-2 defeat to Bristol City in the Championship on Tuesday night.

The Daisy Cutter has rounded up some tweets by West Brom fans below:

Livermore’s role in the midfield has always been debated by West Brom fans, because it is so unclear what he actually does. Is he meant to be there to just break up the oppositions play? Because he’s not very good at it. Is he a box-to-box midfielder? He doesn’t seem to be involved in attacking play that much. The former Tottenham midfielder just seems like he’s there to make up the numbers most of the time.

Livermore was not great against Bristol City but then again, who was? Even though West Brom scored two goals in the second-half, the 3-2 scoreline really flattered them. Livermore was at the heart of a terrible performance by the Baggies, who need to hire a manager as soon as possible.

It seems like this tweet got a lot of Albion fans talking on Twitter, because he is nowhere near the worst midfielder that has ever played for the Black Country club. West Brom had some real stinkers in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Kwame Ampadu and Mike Phelan have to be up there among the worst. At least Livermore has scored some memorable goals for the Baggies.

Should West Brom get rid of Livermore in the summer? They could do with shifting on half of their squad to be honest. It will give the next manager a lot of work to do in the summer, but so many players in the squad seem so stale right now.
