Tottenham fans were blown away by Harry Winks after the midfielder put in a performance to remember as Spurs beat Manchester City 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final on Tuesday night.

It was definitely a performance that was worthy of man of the match. Winks controlled the midfield even though he was up against some of the best players that Man City had to offer. The 23-year-old passed the ball well and was also strong enough in the tackle to provide ample support for his defence. While it was a great outing for the midfielder, we believe that Toby Alderweireld or Danny Rose should be heralded as the man of the match.

Winks and Moussa Sissoko formed a great partnership in the centre of the midfield and Mauricio Pochettino would be crazy to not keep on playing these two together, especially in the second-leg of the quarter-final, which takes place at the Etihad next Wednesday. They complimented each other so well against Pep Guardiola’s side on Tuesday night.

Winks was brilliant against Man City and as the tweet above points out, the midfielder’s return from injury has coincided with Spurs winning two games in a row. While the 23-year-old was sidelined, Tottenham drew one and lost two of three matches. Since he’s returned, results and performances have improved. If he keeps playing like this then he might be one of the first names on Pochettino’s team sheet.
