Premier League Picks 4th October

It’s the last weekend of Premier League fixtures before the international break and all teams will be eager to enter the mini break on a high.

The midweek European matches limits Saturday’s schedule to just six matches, but that shouldn’t prevent it from being another fantastic afternoon in the world’s most expensive league.

Here’s how we’re looking to win big from the day’s action:

Hull City V Crystal Palace. 3PM.

Steve Bruce’s Tigers have seen big changes over the past few months and that has resulted in a team that seems to score and concede at a rapid rate. Hull’s last six competitive matches have seen a minimum of three goals and we’re backing that trend to continue against Crystal Palace.

The Eagles have also been involved in a lot of high-scoring games since Neil Warnock returned to Selhurst Park, and they’ve scored at least twice in four of those five matches. Both teams are enjoying a productive spell in the final third and that should result in another exciting contest at the KC.

Leicester City V Burnley. 3PM.

It’s a battle of the newly promoted clubs at the King Power and there is no doubt that Nigel Pearson’s Foxes have adjusted to life in the top flight with far greater ease.

Whilst Leicester have already picked up impressive results against Everton, Arsenal and Manchester United at home, Burnley are still searching for a first goal on the road. Sean Dyche’s strugglers lost 4-0 at the Hawthorns last Saturday and we think they could be in for more disappointment here.

Liverpool V West Bromwich Albion. 3PM.

Liverpool’s turbulent beginning to the campaign continued with the midweek Champions League loss at Basel and Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to see his side get back to winning ways against a resurrected West Brom.

The Reds will be expected to win at Anfield but could be pushed all the way by the Baggies. Alan Irvine’s men have hit seven goals in their last two competitive matches alone and will look to capitalise on a home defence that has kept just one clean sheet all season.

Sunderland V Stoke City. 3PM.

Mark Hughes has worked wonders at the Britannia Stadium since being appointed in the summer of 2013 and he is quickly transformed the Potters into a far bigger attacking threat. We’re backing one of his recent signings to fire them to success against the floundering Black Cats.

Sunderland have really struggled in the early weeks and the Potters are more than capable of taking advantage at the Stadium of Light. Former Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf has opened the scoring in each of their last two Premier League away games and he is a great shout to complete that particular hat-trick on Saturday.

Swansea City V Newcastle United. 3PM.

The Magpies have endured a hellish start to 2014/15 but manager Alan Pardew has received a vote of confidence from owner Mike Ashley and we’re backing him to celebrate that news by picking up a positive result in Wales.

Garry Monks’ side have been one of the surprise packages so far but have failed to win any of their most recent three league matches. We think they could be set to drop more points against the Geordies.

Aston Villa V Manchester City. 5:30PM.

With Chelsea facing Arsenal on Sunday, Manuel Pellegrini’s men have a fantastic opportunity to pile the pressure on Jose Mourinho’s side and we’re backing them to fire a warning shot with a big performance at Villa Park.

Paul Lambert’s Villains started the season in superb fashion but fell 3-0 to both Arsenal and Chelsea in recent games and that could have destroyed their confidence heading into Saturday’s showdown with the champions.  City beat both Newcastle and Hull by a two-goal margin on the road and we expect them to coast to victory once more in front of the Sky cameras.
