Leeds United are reportedly lining up a swoop to sign Braga centre-back Bruno Viana, and they might be able to land the Brazilian defender for a fraction of his release clause in the summer.

According to Portuguese news outlet A Bola, the 24-year-old has a release clause worth £21.6million, but Braga may settle for just £12.9million in the next transfer window if anyone comes in to try and sign him.

WILL LEEDS BID FOR VIANA?

Bruno Viana has been very impressive for Braga this season and it does appear as though Leeds might make a move for him in the summer transfer window. According to a recent report by talkSPORT, Leeds are considering a swoop to sign the 24-year-old, but could face competition from Leicester, Wolves and Watford in the race for his signature. Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani will surely be thrilled to know that this update by A Bola claims that Braga want just £12.9millon for Viana, which seems like a bit of a bargain considering that’s 40 per cent slashed off his overall £21.6million release clause. Radrizzani will surely let Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa sign Viana if the money involved represents a good deal and based on his performances this season. Leeds should definitely push the boat out here.

IS HE SPECIAL?

Viana has made 39 appearances across all competitions for Braga this season, helping to keep them in the top four of the Portuguese top-flight behind only Porto, Benfica and Sporting CP. Braga’s form has dipped a bit lately but they were at one stage second in the league and giving Porto a battle in the race for the title, which is massive for a club like them. Viana has been key to it all and for him to be wanted by a clutch of Premier League clubs says a lot. Wolves know what they are doing when recruiting for Portugal, so to be in the hunt for Viana alongside them is a good sign. If Leeds are promoted this season then Viana is someone who can be signed and walk straight into Bielsa’s starting line-up.

INTERESTING FACT

Braga signed Viana last summer when they paid Olympiakos just £2.6million for his services. They stand to make a massive profit on that if someone matches Braga’s valuation for the centre-back in the summer.
