Arsenal fans flooded to Twitter to slam the performance of striker Alexandre Lacazette in their Europa League clash against Napoli on Thursday night.

The north London faithful saw the French hitman lead the line alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but were left frustrated at his lack of cutting edge as the 27-year-old passed up a number of opportunities to stick the ball in the back of the net.

The Daisy Cutter has rounded up the Gunners’ unhappy tweets:

Rule number one of being a striker – keep things simple. The simpler things you make things, the more likely you are to carry out your duty and once you start trying to force the issue that is when you are going to come unstuck. Lacazette did not look his natural, confident self on Thursday and perhaps the pressure of the occasion got to him a little bit.

No one tries to be useless and despite wasting chances, the Frenchman certainly offered Unai Emery’s side something up top. He was perhaps not as bad as some of the fans make out, but when it is your duty to get goals, missing gilt edged opportunities is never going to look good.

Could you call Lacazette’s performance brainless? There was certainly some poor decision making on the night but he still caused problems to the Napoli defence. He under-performed, that is for sure.
